These guys play both types of music – country and western. This is a solid, very listenable roots-country/western album. They pushed the cowboy image way over the top, but it was the ’80s. Rockabilly bands, Hair Metal, New Wave – you know what I’m saying. I think these guys got a fair amount of press and critical acclaim at the time. Who knows where they are now? Did they release anything else?
The Wagoneers did one more album. It was equally good but the band folded soon after. Lead singer and main songwriter Monte Warden did three good solo albums after the break up. The Wagoneers live was a great experience, more loud fast all out rockabilly. My wife and I saw Monte Warden one time abour 10 years ago in a now defunct club in Chapel Hill. Aside from friends of the band we were the only ones to stick it out until their opening time which was well after midnight.
