No, not that James Baker. This is the guy who was the drummer briefly for those Australian masters of dirge, The Scientists (I have almost all their records) and then eventually with the much better-known Hoodoo Gurus.
This comes off as a fun little side project. Two goofy little dittys that sounded retro even back in 1985. I’d rate it a 6 but I had to give it a bonus point for the packaging and the flipside song title, “Born To Be Punched.” Oh yeah, that stuff does matter.
James (this drummer) is a sweetie. He has zero knowledge of politics which makes him truly lighthearted and very innocent still. His current hit is about me (how daggy). I on the other hand write very deep letters to our last primeminister John Howard – because John helped bring the revolution of family law getting in tune with the last paragraph of the old testament. If you saw James play these days you would still have a laugh and fun.
[…] front man Kim Salmon clearly pictured on the back cover. Also in the band at this time was drummer James Baker, who would later join the Hoodoo […]
James also went on to be in The Beasts of Bourbon…australia’s greatest band ever, who also had Tex Perkins on vox….
Big fan of the Beasts of Bourbon. Posted a video on here somewhere. Need get back to blogging again! Thanks for the comments.
