  • Artist: Baby Ford
  • Title: Children of The Revolution
  • Year: 1989

  • Rating (1-10): 7

This is a 12 inch single by Baby Ford with two mixes of Marc Bolan’s (T-Rex) “Children of The Revolution.” The flipside contains “Oochy Koochy (Konrad Cadet Version)” and “Ford Trax.” I was sure this belonged to Mary, but based on the year it came out and the promo stamp on the cover it must be something I got at our store. I’m not that into it and wouldn’t keep it, but Mary digs it and rates it a generous, in my opinion, 7. Last thing, does this belong under “B” or “F”? When artists have stage names I’m never sure where to put them. His real name is Peter Ford.

Billy Idol -- Don\'t Stop

  • Artist: Billy Idol
  • Title: Don’t Stop
  • Year: 1981
  • Format: Vinyl 12 in.
  • Rating (1-10): 5
  • Owner: Tracy / Mary – We both had copies.
  • Acquired: 1981 – Unknown origin.

Please, do stop. Actually, this is a reasonably listenable pop record. It’s hard to think that Billy Idol was in Generation X, not that they were really all that punk, but still… “Don’t Stop” is a four song EP that includes a cover of “Mony Mony” and the hit orginal “Dancing With Myself.” This guy definitely turned into a clown, but like any decent clown he’s always good for some laughs. More about that later…

“In World War Two the average age of the combat soldier was 26. In Viet Nam he was 19.”

Seems a little strange to be making a dance record, about Viet Nam, in 1985. Or, maybe not. I won’t be suprised if folks are singing about Iraq in a decade. Why aren’t there more people singing now?

ABBA – The Magic of ABBA

A-B-B-A… There was no avoiding this as the first piece to be logged. I can’t say I ever really knew ABBA’s songs until Mary and I went with some friends to see the play Mama Mia. That was probably in 2003. I have to admit that they stick with you once you’re heard them enough. Dig it, dancing queen.
