“All Fools Day” is another very good record by The Saints. My favorites are “First Time” and the indie hit “Big Hits (On The Underground).” I’ll say it again about these guys, adding horns occassionally really brings out the maximum rock and roll. I got to see them live when they toured for this record.
There’s a not-so-comprehensive article about The Saints on Wikipedia where the author describes them as “punk.” I guess that’s accurate in the broadest possible sense, like the way The Clash was punk, but maybe a little misleading. This band is deep and broad, in its influences and its songwriting.

This is one record by The Saints that I’m just not that familiar with. I never bought “Monkey Puzzle”, but lucky for us Mary did. I remember liking it last week when I played it, but it’s been a long week people. Please mister mover man deliver my turntable and records tomorrow!

I got into The Saints a little late. I think I bought this album after I picked up a later record. It’s a promo copy so unfortunately they didn’t get paid for it. But don’t worry Saints, I bought your other stuff too.
It’s hard to explain their sound but punk rock and roll seems fitting. The opening track, “Know Your Product”, has killer horns. For a long time I have believed that maximum rock and roll cannot be achieved without a horn section. No matter how hard you’re rocking, if it ain’t got horns there is room for improvement. This song supports my theory. The whole record is excellent. At first it sounds sort of ordinary, but the involuntary foot tapping and head bobbing “Eternally Yours” provokes tells you it is in fact very special.
