T. Rex -- Electric Warrior

  • Artist: T. Rex
  • Title: Electric Warrior
  • Year: 1971
  • Format: Vinyl 12 in.
  • Rating (1-10): 7
  • Owner: Tracy
  • Acquired: 1986 ? – I think I got this when I was working at Mother’s Records & Tapes.
  • Keeper: Yes

You gotta have “Bang A Gong (Get It On)” in your record collection. I also love “Mambo Sun” and “Jeepster”, but for me the rest can get a bit too hippy dippy trippy. Everyone seems to think it’s a masterpiece. Maybe they’re right, but I usually feel the need to play some AC/DC or Motorhead afterward.

Forgive me Tracey, but how can Lean Woman Blues and Rip Off be as you say ‘hippy, dippy and trippy? This album is one of the greatest albums to come out of the 70’s! Yes I do also like heavier rock bands like Bad Co Deep Purple etc… but Bolan was in a class of his own, totally unique. Try some of his other albums ‘The Slider’ or for some southern American rock try ‘T.Rex Tanx’. This album was inspirational to the German heavy rock band of the same name ‘TANX’

    ROCK ON!
